This is the final cut of the short version of the mixed-media presentation/video I produced from images associated with my experience as a 2011 Presidential Awardee for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching.
The presentation was created in Apple's Keynote software, then screen-recorded using Camtasia. Don't watch it here; watch it on YouTube at full 1080p HD resolution. It makes a difference!
The preso begins with an explanation of the award and the application. It continues with the details of being selected as a state finalist and (eventually) a national finalist. From there, we're off to Washington, DC for three days of recognition events. Sessions at The Willard InterContinental, The National Science Foundation, and Obama Administration personnel are shown, including the ceremony with Secretary of Education, Arne Duncan, at The Reagan Building, and the White House photograph with Vice President Joe and Dr. Jill Biden. It ends with various accolades, most notably the one from President Obama.
This video distills a process that spanned more than a year into 6:40. It's the short take, edited for brevity.
The expansive "director's cut" includes more from the process and the post-PAEMST tour of DC, including appearances from Rio Americano alums Jason Kamras and Morgan Lambert, as well as my best attempts to photograph DC architecture, landscapes, and wildlife. It clocks in at 17:22. See the blog post above for
