The 1983 Presidential Awardees

As the calendar moves from 2012 to 2013, the 2011 PAEMST awardees continue to nourish their giddy anticipation for the release of the official PAEMST White House photograph with Joe and Jill Biden. It was taken Friday, June 29, 2012 and is evolving into something of a unicorn as the days, weeks, and months pass. (A unicorn in the sense that we all know what it looks like, but none of us has actually seen it.)

The PAEMST home page now shows a photograph of most of the awardees taken when they visited the National Science Foundation headquarters.

In any case, 2013 will mark the 30th anniversary of PAEMST. For a look back at the first year, take a peek at the list of 1983 winners. Michigan's Science awardee was my master teacher, Walt Scheider. I hadn't realized that the Math awardee that year was also from Ann Arbor Huron High (home of the River Rats). Colorado's winners were from the same school, too.
